Fentanyl has been an ongoing crisis over the past decade, affecting nearly 2.2% of teens 12 to 17 and taking the lives of over 200,000 young people. Although fentanyl use is on a steady decline among youth, its presence in other drugs and accidental use increases the risk of addiction and overdose. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid, 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. Even in small doses, it can be fatal, especially for growing teens.
At Lotus, we take a comprehensive approach to treating fentanyl addiction. We address both the physical dependence and psychological aspects of fentanyl abuse. Some of the recovery services we offer to teens and their families include:
If you feel your teen may be using fentanyl, look for the following signs, which can indicate a life-threatening emergency:
Our safe and structured 5 to 12-week residential program offers 24/7 care, a blend of evidence-based therapies, and medication management to treat fentanyl abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders in teens.

This intensive 7-day program builds on the skills learned in residential treatment. Our PHP includes room and board, and teens will continue to live at the facility for the remainder of their treatment.

We understand that addiction is often driven by underlying mental health problems and trauma. When your teen first arrives for treatment, they will be given a comprehensive substance abuse evaluation and mental health assessment to identify what treatment is most appropriate for their needs.
Lotus Behavioral Health recognizes the importance of family in the recovery journey for teens. We encourage parents to stay involved in their teen's treatment process for an increased success rate. We focus on equipping teens with the tools to repair damaged relationships, manage conflict effectively, and foster meaningful connections.
During treatment, your teen participates in intense individual and group therapies such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and EMDR. Our licensed therapists will help teens break negative thinking patterns that drive their substance use, set treatment goals, and develop positive coping strategies.
Although we do not offer medically supervised detox at Lotus Behavioral Health, we understand the complexity and danger of unsupervised detox from fentanyl and partner with several local detox centers and resources that can provide support. We help coordinate the admissions and transition to other levels of care to support lasting recovery.
Lotus Behavioral Health holds both treatment and academics as equally important. We understand many teens who enter treatment fall behind in school, creating extra challenges when they transition back to their community. We partner with local schools to optimize success for teens in our Residential and PHP programs. Teens in our program spend time in the classroom each day while continuing to make progress in their recovery.

We focus on relapse prevention planning by helping teens build a strong support system in their community. This may include involving family or friends in the recovery process, ensuring teens meet academic requirements with educational support, and connecting them to a peer recovery network.

Yes, we accept most major insurance providers, including Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Lucet, Optum, Tricare, Humana, and Bright Healthcare. Speak with one of our admissions members to verify insurance and find the best treatment plan for your teen.
We do not provide medication-assisted treatment to teens. If multiple attempts at withdrawal management fail, we can help coordinate with local MAT programs to support your teen with finding a medication-assisted regimen. However, these programs are often highly restricted and regulated for individuals under 18. We do provide medication management appointments under the supervision of our clinical psychiatric team. They can prescribe medication to manage underlying mental health problems that may contribute to addiction.
We do not offer detox as part of our residential program; however, we partner with several local facilities and resources that can provide support. Our dedicated admissions team can help determine the best level of care for your teen and coordinate any necessary transitions.
