At Lotus Behavioral Health, we offer trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate group therapy for teens ages 12–17 who are navigating complex substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges.
Our group therapy program is designed to help your teen heal, grow, and build resilience with peers in a safe, supportive, and structured setting.
We accept most major insurance plans
Group therapy gives teens the opportunity to connect with others facing similar challenges, develop healthy coping skills, and practice emotional regulation in a supervised, therapeutic setting.
Led by licensed clinicians who specialize in adolescent mental health and substance use treatment, our groups are structured, goal-oriented, and tailored to the unique developmental needs of teens.
Group therapy at Lotus is not just talk. It’s an evidence-based approach used alongside individual therapy, family therapy, and other therapeutic supports.
Your Teen Will:

We know how important safety, structure, and trust are for both teens and families.
At Lotus Behavioral Health, our group therapy program is:
Structured with clear guidelines and boundaries, creating a predictable environment where teens feel emotionally and physically safe.
Carefully monitored for peer dynamics, with clinicians actively facilitating healthy interaction and preventing bullying, shaming, or exclusion.
Designed for small, developmentally appropriate groups, ensuring each teen is heard, supported, and not overlooked.
Integrated with ongoing clinical assessment, so treatment goals are adjusted as your teen grows and progresses.
ocused on skill-building, not just discussion, teaching coping tools, emotional regulation strategies, and healthy communication that teens can use at home and school.
Built on collaboration with families, providing regular updates and encouraging parent involvement so you never feel out of the loop.
Individual Therapy & Psychiatric Support While group therapy helps teens build peer connections and practice new skills, individual therapy provides a private space to process trauma, substance use, anxiety, depression, or other underlying concerns.
Academic Support & Life Skills TrainingOur program integrates educational support and real-world life skills training so your child can rebuild confidence, stay on track with school, and develop independence in a healthy way.
Aftercare Planning & Relapse PreventionOur team creates a detailed aftercare and relapse prevention plan that includes outpatient referrals, community resources, and family guidance to ensure your teen has ongoing support during the transition home.
Family Counseling and Parent Coaching Our family therapy sessions and parent coaching workshops strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and provide parents with practical tools to support recovery at home.

Peer Connection & Reduced IsolationTeens struggling with substance use or mental health challenges often feel alone or misunderstood. Group therapy helps them realize they are not the only ones facing these struggles, reducing shame and isolation while building healthy peer support in a supervised setting.

Confidence in RecoveryAs teens share progress, set goals, and practice new skills in group, they begin to see real growth in themselves. This builds self-esteem and helps them believe that lasting recovery is possible — not just in treatment, but in everyday life.

Healthy Communication SkillsGroup sessions provide a safe space to practice expressing feelings, setting boundaries, and resolving conflict respectfully. With clinician guidance, teens learn how to communicate in ways that strengthen relationships at home, at school, and with peers.

Better Emotional RegulationMany teens from high-stress or high-risk environments struggle with managing intense emotions. Through guided exercises and real-time feedback, group therapy teaches practical coping strategies that help teens pause, reflect, and respond in healthier ways.

Accountability and StructureGroup therapy provides consistency and routine, which are essential for teens navigating recovery. Being part of a structured, supervised group encourages responsibility, follow-through, and positive behavioral change within a supportive community.

En Lotus Behavioral Health ofrecemos tratamiento para adolescentes con personal bilingüe en todos los departamentos. Yes. We offer bilingual support for Spanish-speaking families to ensure clear communication and full understanding throughout the treatment process. Our team can work with families who primarily speak Spanish so parents and guardians feel informed, included, and supported throughout their teen’s care.
However, the teen participating in the program must be able to speak and understand English fluently, as all therapy sessions, groups, and program activities are conducted in English. Our goal is to support the entire family while ensuring each teen can fully participate in treatment.
In many cases, yes. Group therapy is often covered when it is part of a structured treatment program, such as residential, PHP, or IOP. Our admissions team will verify your benefits, explain coverage details, and walk you through any out-of-pocket costs before your teen begins treatment.
